Wednesday, 04 February 2009 15:06

The Technology Association of America submitted a letter to the Federal Acquisition Regulatory Council saying a rule change to the Federal Acquisition Regulation that requires contractors to certify IT products sold to the government are authentic, or be held liable if they are not, is "practically impossible to meet.

A Port Neches man convicted of counterfeiting checks and producing and possessing false identification was sentenced to two years in federal prison today.

In September of 2007 law enforcement officers searched the home of 33-year-old Larry Armon DeBlanc, Jr., where they discovered a computer containing numerous images of checks, payroll stubs, drivers' licenses with photos, currency images and cut and paste images of signatures, company names and addresses, all commonly used in the production of counterfeit checks and documents, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Texas.

The investigation followed the arrest of another individual arrested while trying to cash a $100 bill on Sept. 25, 2007, according to the release.

DeBlanc will be required to pay $24,482 in restitution to the various banks and other institutions that suffered losses as a result of the counterfeiting.

The campaign is called, "Get real. Get a prescription." In the bottom left corner of the homepage is the blue oval Pfizer logo and it says, "This website is brought to you by Pfizer."
